If I cured cancer, I'd end up dead like Mary Sherman (look her up if you don't know). They don't make profit off cures, they profit off treatment. If you cure the disease, the medial industry would lose a lot of customers, and hence a lot of money.

Death is a natural part of life. I would rather people die of cancer, than for the population of Earth increasing to numbers that cause starvation. Sounds mean, but its just the way it is.
