It's not lose the ability to talk, it's lose the ability to COMMUNICATE. That means no sign language, no writing it out, no speaking a different language. It says you gain the ability to learn anything, but it might not include learning how to communicate again.

For the people who are misinterpreting this, the downside is you lose the ability to communicate. There is nothing that states that you cannot simply learn to communicate again, since the ability will let you learn anything.
