Once upon a time was a creature that was very much like a chicken but wasn't a chicken. It laid a mutated egg and the hatchling became the first chicken. The egg came first - problem solved.

The egg came first because dinosaurs came first. Not exactly, it started with cells in the ocean that gradually evolved into dinosaurs, lizards, other animals etc.

It was the chicken. There are special items in the egg that are only found in chickens. Otherwise, the egg would come first if you're talking about any egg.
